It is no secret to anyone who places value on aesthetics that color impacts our emotions. Color is one of the most impactful choices we can make in our homes! It adds emphasis, draws the eye, and absolutely alters our feelings, thoughts, and behaviors. Infusing vibrant hues into a room isn’t just about painting walls. The History of Green
In ancient history, the first creating of green as a pigment is seen in Egypt. They used Malachite to create this mineral pigment. The Egyptians saw the color as a representation of regeneration. Likewise, ancient Romans used the color green by soaking copper pots in water to create pigment. Green was the color of Venus, representing growth and gardens. The actual word green comes from the an Old English word – grene. This has German roots meaning grass and grow.
During the Middle Ages and Renaissance the color came represent class – often shown on bankers, merchants, and gentry. However, with the discovery of synthetic dyes in the 18th and 19th centuries, there was a rebirth of green. Green was associated with the romantic movement in literature and art.
Elegant Growth
In contemporary Europe and North America, green is now widely considered the color associated with the environment, vivacity, hope, and health. It brings to mind nature and growth, perfect for home design and interiors. With so many hues to choose from, green can be rejuvenating and fresh or tranquil and calming. Offering an organic element, this color brings life to urban, man-made spaces.

We are lucky with the color green as we have many beautiful furniture pieces that feature this hue as well. The pistachio color of this antique buffet is soft and lovely, a simple touch of brightness. Alternatively, the deep emerald of the velvet loveseat adds a touch of drama while still feeling grounded in the color.
