Joel Mozersky – Austin Designer Spotlight

Joel Mozersky’s latest project

You may recognize this designer from a variety of projects around Texas. He’s unafraid to push the envelope and it’s evident in many of the projects he’s completed over the years – including the likes of Uchi, DownHouse, La Condesa, Taco Deli Westlake,  Juliet and more. Joel Mozersky is one of the top names in the Austin design community.

His most recent project is the one we’ve had our eyes on. Down the road from our gallery sits a historic mansion near the corner of West Lynn and West 6th. With just over 8,000 square feet, the project was a large undertaking and no detail was left behind. As obvious lovers of history, it’s no surprise that the Jean-Marc Fray team has been admiring this project from afar over the last year. From the grand entry and parlor room to the extravagant master bed and bath, the home is dripping in luxury craftsmanship and decor. We’re just excited the photos have finally been released so we can share with you!

Everything Ebony

Ebonized wood finishes are a specialty at Jean-Marc Fray. We use all-natural, museum quality shellac finish and practice traditional techniques. Lustrous and modern – ebonized wood pieces will make a unique decorative impact in any home. We have a number of prized pieces in our gallery – see our black lacquer design inspirations below, along with a few pieces available in our showroom right now.

From the citron sofa to the black lacquered details on the walls and on the furniture throughout the room – it’s modern luxury with an old-world vibe.

An entryway with dynamic impact. Not only do we love the ebonized table right in the center of it all, but we also adore the geometric floors and ceiling, gorgeous light fixture and brass details throughout the space.

A timeless design featured in Atlanta Homes magazine – there is simply nothing like the contrast between black and white. We can’t get enough of the lustrous piece in the center of the room, along with the glitzy chandelier and sunburst mirror.

We’d be remiss if we didn’t share this beautiful case piece. A gorgeous focal point – we love how it stands out against the gilt touches and deep gray walls.

Ebonized pieces at Jean-Marc Fray

French antique demilune with a white Carrara marble slab on top. This piece features brass trim throughout, cast hardware, and four fluted legs. It is finished with a lustrous French polish over the ebonized mahogany. Each side has a cabinet door and drawer that open out, and three dovetailed drawers go down the center of the chest.

Italian credenza or buffet attributed to Ico Parisi. This piece made of cherry has unique brass legs and brass pegs in a grid pattern, giving it a strong geometric impact. It makes an impressive impact in any space.

Mid-century modern period ebonized walnut dining chairs with brass front feet, angled legs, and a French polish finish. There are six chairs in the set. Professionally reupholstered in dark teal 100% cotton velvet.

English Campaign style secretary or chest of drawers with the iconic brass corners and inset handles, this piece also separates at the middle for easy travel. The bottom three are dovetailed drawers for general storage. The top drawer front drops down as a leather writing surface, embossed with a gold leaf frieze, with several compartments and two interior drawers, perfect for letter writing. A slick, French polished, black lacquer finish gives this vintage case piece a modern edge and sets off the shining brass hardware perfectly.

Vintage French Directoire style pair of end tables by Maison Raphael. Curule style legs, glass tops, and brass trim on ebonized wood. Each table has a single drawer with brass pull and bottom shelf. These 1940s side tables are of a very high craftsmanship quality typical to this iconic Parisian design house.

Marvelous Marble

Marble is everywhere right now. From kitchens to luggage, planters, office accessories and more – it seems you can’t escape its siren-like qualities and trendy allure. At Jean-Marc Fray Antiques, we’ve long-known marble as a timeless classic. This week on Le Blog, we’re sharing our favorite marble designs along with some beautiful marble pieces in the gallery right now.

Marvel at the details in this Aurora tile featuring Thassos Royal White, Pearl Glass and Marble Tile.

One of our favorite tile looks – this design was featured in the restaurant Aragona in Seattle that has since closed. The pops of color and the geometric details give your eyes a place to wander endlessly.

The perfect combination of articulate detail and glamour, this AKDO marble tile is stunning. This tile would be perfect on a backsplash or accent wall, especially if paired with a piece from our gallery!

Art Deco perfection. This sensational pastel, scalloped tile is absolutely dazzling. We especially love the mix of different marble.

For those looking for a simple, clean look – this marble, herringbone tile is a fantastic choice. Great for use in kitchens, bathrooms, bars, etc!

We could stare at different marble tile inspirations all day long, but without further ado, we’d like to share some of our favorite marble pieces in the gallery right now!

Italian Antique Arabescato Marble-Topped Tables

Italian console table featuring 24-carat gold leaf in the tapered, fluted legs and carvings. Topped with a slab of Arabescato marble – so beautiful that we’re happy to announce we have two currently available!

Antique Carrara Marble Topped Console

Who doesn’t love Carrara marble? This divine marble-topped, ebonized table is the perfect side table, console or nightstand.

Our love for this piece goes beyond the Carrara marble. We simply love the hardware and meticulous trim on each drawer. This piece would make a beautiful dresser. Available now.
